Happy 4th from Ribfest

So we spent the afternoon at Ribfest in Naperville with about 50,000 other people for the 4th. We had a great spot near the main stage - close to beer, food and bathrooms. Necessities for a good time. And for the most part we had a great time.

Aiden had a great time at the petting zoo. He seriously had no fear of the animals. He would run right up to the chickens, goats, pigs, bunnies and ducks and try to feed them out of his hand. We were waiting for a goat to charge him or a chicken to peck him, but everyone behaved.

Allie was a rock star in her shades and mini-skirt with crazy pig tails in her hair. Besides sleeping on our laps and taking a stroll around the area, she just loved being out in the sun. A couple times she was eying the sweet corn that Aiden was munching on and wishing she had teeth.

REO was the main attraction that evening before the fireworks. Unfortunately, we had to leave Natalie and Alan there with the crowds. It just got too loud and crowded for the kids. We hope they made it out of there alright...the 'encroachers' were quick to move in and take our spot.

Thanks to our friends, Tobey and Aarin, who live just blocks from downtown Naperville, we were able to park in their driveway and just walk a little bit to the fest. That was sooooo nice after being in the hot sun all day.

Will we go back to Ribfest next year? The jury is out on that one...
