Cruz-ing to a great time in Santa Cruz

We've been having a great time in Santa Cruz this past week. Aiden is practically a local here and Allie is just getting aquainted with the 'weirdness'. Check out all the great photos on our Flickr site.

Here we are having a great time at the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk Firday night for the concert on the beach, with Santana (well it was Santana music with some of the original members, I think).

We also took a trip to Monterey to see the aquarium and walk around the cannery district. It was so beautiful there. We took a little drive up the coast and dreamed about living in the multi-million dollar mansions on the beach. Someday...

Saturday we celebrated Big Joe's 60th birthday at the house. Beer-can chicken, lots of Coors Lights, lots of laughs, and great company. It was a great day and we thank Joe and Claire for being such great hosts, parents and friends.

Then, we visited Joey and Emily's place in the Oakland Hills. Their place was so cool - the view from the back porch overlooked the hills of Berkeley and parts of the Bay. We had a scary moment though, when going to get beer, we noticed that a neighbor's house a couple doors down was on fire! We called the fire department and everythign was taken care of. Apparently they were remodeling and rags still wet with stain left in the house combusted and caused serious smoke damage. Yikes, a fire in that area can spread quickly and devastate everything.

Then we walked the campus of UC Berkeley and tried to start a demonstration. Well, not really...but it would have been fitting.

Then we saw Natalie's office at the amazing Yahoo campus in Sunnyvale. We are now calling it UC Yahoo because the place is huge and is just like a college campus. Everyone was really young, cool and totally laid back at work. I think I might have to work here someday.

There were a lot of other activities throughout the week that made this trip amazing...but my fingers are starting to hurt and I've got some drinking to do. I think I might need another vacation to recover from this one.
